I need to …
… Stop Buying Crap! I don’t need to make any more money, I just need to get back to managing what comes in and what goes out better. Help me not buy stuff I don’t need please.
I should probably also stop eating crap too.
Got any tips to spend less? Please leave a comment.

guilt sure seems to follow consumption, huh, whether it’s food or buying stuff. just ask yourself if you really need it(even if it’s a buck) or is there a better way to spend that dough! balance, balance, balance. you are doing great imelda! most people don’t care and yet, you do.

Imelda, I’m starting to *finally* get it - no more crap buying for me! No advice as I’m only just getting into this…but try to remember how good it feels when you have not bought into it. 8-)

I enjoy buying crap but I’ve recently admitted that I have too much crap. I’ve also set a few goals to remedy situation.
- Sell things and turn some of that stuff into cash. I’ve got several listings on Craigslist and a queue of things to list in the coming weeks.
- Pay cash when buying new stuff. I’ve found that delayed gratification is something I really like. The whole process of saving up is more fun than the rush of buying on credit and the guilt/reality of payments. (paid cash for my pickup truck, wh00p!)
- Audit my belongings one shelf or closet at a time. If I haven’t touched it in a year, consider selling it or throwing it away. I’ve thrown away a LOT of worthless crap in the last few weeks.

I have started to spend less too! The only thing I could honestly say that I may spend too much money on is on White Mochas from coffee shops! However…I have an excuse to that. :-D
I think what works for me is that I just DON’T buy anything unless I feel like I need it. As cliche as that sounds, it actually works. I always have fantasies about the new gadgets, clothes, and junk that I could currently get if I wanted to. However the difference between the old me and the new me is that I used to act upon those fantasies. Now I still fantasize about materialistic things, but I just don’t buy it. I’ve gotten used to it now!
