My favorite line from ‘Say Anything..’

I love John Cusack!
Lloyd Dobler: “I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.”
Classic!

It *sounds* cool, but I’m not sure I know what it means, or, if it means what I *think* it means, I’m not sure if I agree with Mr. Dobler… I mean, *want* to not have to deal with anything fake or *over*-processed, but I don’t necessarily think that processing itself is necessarily a bad thing… I mean, as an artist, I want my art to be honest– that is, true to myself, what I want it to be, what I’m driven for it to be, and frequently that means I need to *process* it– that is, to literally “go forward” with it, to “hold it out in front of me,” to examine, to tweak, to push this way and that, to bend and twist and twiddle with it… All in the hopes of making it move me in a way that I like…
