Danielle and her first checking account
My daughter Danielle has been babysitting more and more these days. She has also been getting paid in checks so we thought it might be time to get her her own checking account.
Danielle already has a savings account with one bank, that I don’t bank at, and since we don’t actually have the acct number (her grandfather opened the acct for her, not me) she has a difficult time cashing checks there.
We went to my back since they offer a High School acct with no fees.
It was pretty painless to set up. Danielle took her most recent check, her out of date state ID, her school ID and social security card to open the account. The process was less than 15 minutes but I hope the lesson learned will be responsibility.
She will get a debit card in a week, but no checks. I will help her keep track of her money with online banking and some free Quicken-like application.
My baby continues to keep growing up! When is that going to stop!
