Taken with Hipstamatic iPhone app

Was inspired to start a new Project 365 using only photos taken with iPhone apps after discovering the the versatile Hipstamatic iPhone app.

I have so many photo apps on my phone so this should be interesting.

This is my 3rd attempt at a Project 365. The first one was started back on Jan 1st, 2007 but I didn’t complete it because my camera broke.

I completed my 2nd attempt which I started on my birthday, April 3rd, 2007. So glad I was able to complete this project.

I’m looking forward to the iPhone only version as a fun outlet. I don’t always carry my DSLR with me or it takes me way too long to get them off the camera these days, with 3 kids now, so hopefully this will be successful.

Wish me luck.

What you’re doing matters

What you’re doing matters. What you’re doing matters. What you’re doing matters.

This was the theme of the 2010 Mom 2.0 Summit. I was so inspired by this conference. The panels, the discussions, the photos from the exhibits, the wonderful people I got to meet. So inspiring. What a great community to be a part of.

Watch the video. Hear the video. Share the video. Let the beauty inspire you.

New connections, new people to learn from

I was able to connect with so many interesting and SMART women at Mom 2.0 Summit this weekend. I discovered people who focus on health, nutrition, early childhood education, organization, scrap booking, money, breast cancer survival, and photography among many other subjects.

Stay in present moment

One of the first ideas that really caught my attention was something Elizabeth Irvine said, “Stay in present moment. Set Your intention. Dedicate your energy.” I have tried to practice the Zen teaching of living in the moment on several occasions. Recently I have become overwhelmed with so much going online and offline. I need to remember to live with intention and appreciate the moment I am in right then. Must. Slow. Down. I’m not Wonder Woman!

Photography

One of my passions is photography and I was so get to spend time at the Mom 2.0: Defining a Movement Art Exhibit at FotoFest. Tracey Clark and the Shutter Sisters did a fantastic job choosing photos that just really moved me and inspired me to spend more time with my camera and the things I love.

I had a chance to talk with Kristen Skarbovig about FotoFest’s Literacy Through Photography program where teachers give students camera to take photos then the children write about thier photographs. I was very impressed by the program and hope it can spread outside of Houston.

I would also like to give a shout out to an Austin, Texas based photographer Kristen Roedner who took photos throughout the event. I came home and checked out her work and boy am I envious of her talent! Gorgeous photos of children and families. You can find her at faux-toes.com, clever right?

Speaking of photos, here’s my flickr photo set of Mom 2.0 Summit.

More to come tommorrow

I discovered new bloggers, was a bit star struck by some famous women of the internet, and also discovered some great products, but that will wait until the next post.

I spent the last 2 days hanging out, listening, learning and totally being inspired by some amazing women at the 2010 Mom 2.0 Summit!

I am reviewing panel notes, contact cards, photos, blog posts and twitter streams of new connections and will share more very soon. Until then, take a look at some photos from the conference.

The main take away from this conference is.. YOU are powerful! I am powerful!

You are writing the story of your only life every single minute of every day.
